LAUNCH OF THE FIDELIA PROJECT: DRIVING SMART MANUFACTURING WITH DEEP LEARNING AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

24 March, 2025

Innovation in smart manufacturing takes a new step forward with the launch of the FIDELIA project, an ecosystem designed to promote the dissemination of advanced technologies and the development of R&D&I projects in robotics and Artificial Intelligence. This ambitious project seeks to connect the main players in the sector, foster collaboration and offer specialised services to drive the technological transformation of the industry.

The FIDELIA project, promoted by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and led by TECNALIA, involves the participation of a high-level consortium made up of Tekniker, STECH-AFM Cluster, Eurecat, IRV, Oesía Group and IMH Campus. This project is funded by the CDTI and supported by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU funds, positioning itself as a key initiative in the consolidation of a robust ecosystem for advanced manufacturing in Spain.

FIDELIA builds on the continuity of CERVERA projects previously developed by technology centres, such as 5R (Cervera Network of Robotic Technologies in Smart Manufacturing) and AI4ES (Network of Excellence in Data-Driven Enabling Technologies). These initiatives laid the foundations for integrating R&D&I in environments closer to the market, and now FIDELIA seeks to expand its impact with a broader and more strategic approach. TECNALIA, TEKNIKER and EURECAT, the driving forces behind these Cervera networks and partners of FIDELIA guarantee this continuity.

Strategic objectives

FIDELIA's main purpose is to consolidate an inclusive innovation ecosystem that fosters technological development and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in advanced manufacturing. Its specific objectives include:

  •          Mapping the ecosystem to identify key actors and their capabilities.
  •          Detect specific needs and activate collaboration within the sector.
  •          Foster knowledge exchange through workshops, events and specialised activities.
  •          Increase visibility and promote the expansion of the network of actors involved.
  •          Boost talent and training, developing technical skills and promoting transnational cooperation.

A framework for the future of smart manufacturing

FIDELIA is presented as a strategic tool to consolidate a robust innovation ecosystem in the field of smart manufacturing. Through the combination of Artificial Intelligence, advanced automation and strong collaboration between key players, the project aims to boost the competitiveness of companies and the development of professionals in the sector.

With a focus on sustainability, digitalisation and technological progress, the FIDELIA project is an initiative that reinforces Spain's leadership in advanced manufacturing, bringing innovation closer to the real needs of the market.
